Jessie Bennett is a self-proclaimed
Native American Artist of the Navajo
tribe. She was born in Gallup, New
Mexico on March 24th, 1981. The
youngest of three sisters Jessie used
art as a therapuetic outlet for her
angst and depression. Creating
beautiful images on the mediums of
paper & canvas, she accidentally
wandered into the realm of Face
and Body painting, when she
became fascinated with the world of
body modification and body art.
She picked up a brush and began
painting on the "skin" medium at age
thirteen and never stopped.
Confronted with many obstacles of
the world she has endured more than most. At age 20 she was found guilty of "posession and intent to distribute" a controlled substance. She spent four years of her life paying for her mistakes in a halfway house, prison and homeconfinement. Rejected from many job opportunites and fighting to get her life back on track she was barely accepted into a two year college. Realizing her academic potential she also began to revive her artistic abilities. Using her past experiences good and bad, a new and improved version of Jessie started to manifest. Graduating in 2006 with an Associates in Business Administration, Jessie went on to a four-year Native American college where she is studying graphic design, web design, 3D animation, and film.
